Arc Impact is a home for pioneering research by academics in the humanities seeking to reach beyond traditional scholarly audiences. The title “Impact” signals collective concern for fostering work that addresses its social impact and extends to wider readerships.

The series affirms the continuing cultural significance of reading: we know medievalists and their colleagues across the humanities are avid book-readers. With these things in mind, this series welcomes accessibly written books with minimal academic apparatus.

Readership: Topics are sufficiently broad to appeal to a wider audience, as well as medievalists and humanities scholars who are not experts in the field in question. Arc’s audience is international, so authors should avoid narrow frames of reference.

Submissions: Scholars are encouraged to see the series as a vehicle for innovative work with regard to both form and content. Mid-length books of 45,000 to 65,000 words are particularly welcomed.
